Ticarnic 3.1gm Injection contains the active component Ticarcillin and Clavulanic acid. Ticarcillin is an antibiotic belonging to the penicillin class. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It is commonly used to treat serious infections such as respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, intra-abdominal infections, and septicemia. Clavulanic acid inhibits these enzymes, thereby allowing ticarcillin (or other penicillin antibiotics) to be more effective against beta-lactamase-producing bacteria.

Individuals with hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to penicillins, cephalosporins, or other beta-lactam antibiotics should not take this medication. Ticarnic 3.1gm Injection is not recommended for individuals with mononucleosis (also known as the "kissing disease") or suspected viral infections, as it is primarily used to treat bacterial infections. This medication is eliminated from the body through the kidneys. Individuals with severe kidney impairment may require dose adjustments or alternative treatment options, and caution should be exercised. It contains a high amount of potassium. Individuals with hyperkalemia (high levels of potassium in the blood) need caution due to the potential for further increases in potassium levels.

Uses of Ticarnic 3.1gm Injection
  • Respiratory tract infections
  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
  • Intra-abdominal infection
  • Skin and soft tissue infections (cellulitis, infected wounds)
  • Bone and joint infections (osteomyelitis and septic arthritis)
  • Gynecological infections (pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and postpartum endometritis)
  • Septicemia and bloodstream infections
  • Therapeutic Effects of Ticarnic 3.1gm Injection

The Ticarnic 3.1gm Injection combination enhances ticarcillin's effectiveness against a wide range of bacteria. Clavulanic acid inhibits beta-lactamase enzymes that can render ticarcillin ineffective, expanding its coverage. This synergy improves treatment outcomes in bacterial infections, especially those caused by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria.

Certain medications may interact with Ticarcillin, and Clavulanic acid, reducing effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects.
