Rivazest 2.5mg tablet contains the active ingredient Rivaroxaban. It is an anticoagulant that belongs to the Xa inhibitors. It treats deep vein thrombosis (DVT, a blood clot present usually in the leg) and pulmonary embolism (PE, a blood clot in the lung) in adults. It also prevents DVT and PE from reoccurring after initial treatment in adults. It is also used to help prevent strokes or serious blood clots in adults who have atrial fibrillation (a condition in which the heart beats irregularly, increasing the chance of clots forming in the body and possibly causing strokes) that is not caused by heart valve disease.
Rivazest 2.5mg tablet is also indicated in children and adolescents below 18 years and with a body weight of 30kg or more to treat blood clots. It is also used to prevent the re-occurrence of blood clots in the veins or the blood vessels of the lungs, following initial treatment of at least 5 days with injectable medicines used to treat blood clots. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to rivaroxaban or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Do not take this medicine if you are bleeding excessively.
