Uses of Sedogest 450mg Tablet
- Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC);
- Cystic fibrosis (liver disease in children aged between 6 to 18 years);
- Gallstone (not visible on plain X-ray).
How Sedogest 450mg Tablet works
Sedogest 450mg works by reducing the production of cholesterol in the liver and increasing the secretion of bile. This helps to dissolve and prevent the formation of gallstones, as well as improve liver function in certain conditions.
Important Safety Information
- Pregnancy: inform your doctor if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby.
- Breastfeeding: tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding or about to start breastfeeding.
- Lungs: it is unknown whether taking a Sedogest 450mg tablet is safe. Notify your doctor if you have or have had any history of lung condition.
- Liver: inform your physician before taking the Sedogest 450mg tablet if you have a problem in the liver, gall bladder, or bile duct.
- Alcohol: it is unsafe to consume alcohol because it can cause excessive drowsiness.
- Driving: there is no interaction with the driving ability or the ability to operate machines.
Side Effects
Common side effects include pasty stool, diarrhea, rash, and abdominal pain. The duration of these side effects may vary from person to person.
Contraindications
Do not take Sedogest 450mg if you are allergic to Ursodeoxycholic acid or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Before Starting Treatment
- Inform your doctor if you have an acute inflammation or non-functional gallbladder or a narrowing or blockage of the bile ducts and your history with gallbladder conditions.
- Notify your doctor if you have recently had surgery in any part of your intestine or hepatic encephalopathy (nervous system disorder caused by severe liver disorder) or if you have a liver bleeding disorder and any liver-related condition.
- Report to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney condition.
Interaction with Other Drugs
Certain medications such as cholestyramine, colestipol, cyclosporin, nitrendipine, birth control pill, blood thinner and antacids may interact with Sedogest 450mg and reduce effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects. Inform your healthcare provider about all your medicines.
Storage
- Keep Sedogest 450mg out of sight and reach of children.
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat and light.
- Store below 25°C.
- Do not refrigerate or freeze.
How to Consume
The Sedogest 450mg tablet is taken after a meal with a glass of milk or a small snack. Avoid chewing, breaking, or crushing it. Your physician will choose the dosage based on your medical condition.
