Revugam 25mg Tablet

Uses:

  • Treatment of low platelet counts caused by primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) or hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection.
  • Treatment of severe aplastic anaemia.

Mechanism of action:

  • Stimulates megakaryocytes (large bone marrow cells) responsible for producing platelets.
  • Raises the number of platelets in the blood, preventing bleeding and bruising.

Important information:

  • Contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to the drug or its components.
  • Not recommended for patients with severe liver impairment or active liver disease.
  • Caution advised in patients with severe liver disease.
  • Regular monitoring of platelet count and other blood parameters required.
  • High platelet count can increase the risk of blood clotting.
  • Avoid dairy products, antacids, mineral and vitamin supplements (iron, calcium, magnesium, aluminum, selenium, and zinc) within 2 hours before or 4 hours after taking the medication.
  • Effective birth control during treatment.
  • Not advised for children under one with ITP, and not recommended for patients under 18 with low platelet counts caused by hepatitis C or severe aplastic anaemia.
