Uses:

• Prevention of organ transplant rejections (e.g., kidney, heart, liver transplantation).

Mechanism of Action:

• Inhibits the enzyme inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH).
• Reduces the production of guanosine nucleotides.
• Specifically affects the proliferation of activated T and B lymphocytes.

Important Safety Information:

• Pregnancy: Contraindicated due to risk of birth defects and miscarriage. Effective contraception is advised for women of childbearing age.
• Breastfeeding: Not recommended as the drug can pass into breast milk and affect the nursing infant.
• Alcohol: Avoid alcohol consumption as it may cause excessive drowsiness or liver problems.
• Driving: Driving vehicles or operating machinery is unsafe due to potential drowsiness and vision problems.
