Uses:
- Rheumatoid arthritis (a condition in which the body attacks its joints, causing pain, swelling, and loss of function).
- Psoriatic arthritis (a condition that causes joint pain and swelling, and scales on the skin).
- Ankylosing spondylitis (inflammatory disease of the spine).
- Ulcerative colitis (a condition affecting the colon and rectum).
- Polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (a long-term disease mainly causing pain and swelling of joints in patients 2 years of age and older).
- Juvenile psoriatic arthritis.
How it works:
- Intajac 5mg tablet is a disease-modifying anti-rheumatoid drug (DMARD) that belongs to the class of immunomodulators.
- It works by decreasing the activity of the immune system and inhibiting Janus kinases, which interfere with the transcription of genes involved in cell growth and differentiation.
Important information:
- Do not take Intajac 5mg tablet if you are allergic to tofacitinib or any other ingredients of this medicine.
- Inform your healthcare professional if you have any symptoms of an infection, such as fever, sweating, chills, muscle aches, cough, shortness of breath, weight loss, skin sores, difficulty or pain when swallowing, diarrhea, or stomach pain.
- Before initiating the treatment, inform your physician if you have kidney, heart, lung, or liver problems, a history of tuberculosis, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol, and also if you are a current or past smoker.
Dosage and administration:
- Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of the treatment based on your disease condition, severity, and other factors.
- Take the tablets as prescribed by your doctor. Do not break, crush, or chew the tablets. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Take the tablet with or without food.
- If you forgot to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take a double dose to make up a forgotten dose.
