Description:

• Drug Class: Antineoplastic, Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors
• Active Ingredient: Gefitinib

Uses:

• Treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), particularly in patients where the cancer has spread and who have certain types of abnormal epidermal growth factor (EGFR) genes. Also used in patients who have not received any cancer treatment before.

Dosage and Administration:

• Available as a tablet to be taken with or without food, as directed by your healthcare provider.
• Usual recommended dosage: 250 mg tablet once daily.
• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
• Take the tablet at the same time every day.

Important Safety Information:

• Pregnancy: Do not use during pregnancy as it can harm the unborn fetus. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to have a baby.
• Breastfeeding: Do not breastfeed while on treatment as it is unknown if the drug passes into breast milk.
• Liver and Kidney Disease: Consult your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems.
• Alcohol: Avoid consuming alcohol as it may cause dizziness.
• Driving: Do not drive vehicles or operate heavy machinery after taking the tablet due to the risk of dizziness.

Side Effects:

• Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, weakness, red or sore mouth, increased liver enzymes, itchy or cracked skin, dry mouth, dry, red or itchy eyes, nail problems, hair loss, fever, blood in the urine, and burning sensation while urinating.

• Inform your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, nutritional or vitamin supplements, and herbal products.

Storage:

• Store the tablet in the original package at room temperature (25°C).
• Keep it out of reach from children.

Additional Information:

• Not recommended for children and adolescents below 18 years of age.
• Regular blood tests are required to prevent complications.
• Avoid high-fiber foods and drink lots of fluids if you have severe diarrhea.
• Antacids should not be used two hours before or one hour after taking this tablet.
