This combines female sex hormones (estrogen and progestogen) to prevent egg release from the ovaries, thus preventing pregnancy. Additionally, it also treats dysmenorrhea. Dysmenorrhea causes painful and irregular periods with symptoms like abdominal pain, digestive problems, fainting, vomiting, and nausea.
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to femilon tablet, or its other ingredients. Before starting taking the medicine, inform your doctor if you have allergies to estrogens or progestins, a history of breast cancer, eye problems, kidney, liver, or heart (stroke) diseases. Avoid using during an operation or prolonged immobility as it may increase the risk of blood clots. Avoid taking this medicine if you have severe diabetes with blood vessel damage, very high blood pressure, a very high level of fat in the blood (cholesterol or triglycerides), or a condition known as hyperhomocysteinemia. It is not recommended for the children under 18 years.
